Best Friends Walk 2026

I'm taking part in PetRescue’s Best Friends Walk to help homeless pets find their best friend.

When it launched in 2004, the PetRescue website was the first of its kind in Australia, and since then, it has been the connection for over one million rescue pets and their new families.

PetRescue’s adoption platform gives pets the best chance to find a home by bringing thousands of homeless pets face-to-face with tens of thousands of potential adopters every day. And the best part is, all PetRescue website services and adoption support programs are free and accessible to all rescue members and pet lovers alike.

Please suppawt us as we walk to recognise the bond we share with our furry family members and help find a home for every pet that needs one!

My Updates

80km Reflection

Imagine signing up for a walking challenge and spraining your ankle two weeks in. Now imagine you gain this injury not from running, jumping or even traversing an adult ninja course, but from simply walking on a flat soft surface.
Being out of commission for over a week has truely driven me stir crazy. Cabin fever comes on fast, especially when walking is my mindfulness time.
I was so stuck with my mental health the last week and a half that my incredible partner let me go to work with them this morning at 6am just to get me out of the house, with the mission I knew I needed to get back home myself, thereby, walking again. Finally.
I have surpassed 80km and don't see myself stopping now I can be active again.
I do however need some new podcasts to listen to while I walk. Suggestions and recommendations are welcome.
I'm quite chuffed with myself for meeting this goal for an organisation I believe in. I truly believe my baby boy Remy, who I lost years ago, has been walking with me too. I miss the connection of having an animal to care for. Though I know Remy will send me a soul when he thinks I'm ready to love that way again.
And I know, it is going to be a rescue animal. It is an honour to house and rehabilitate frightened rescue animals and watch them become confident and feel safe.
Back to walking now, as I am only half way home.

50km Reflection

Hi all,
Thank you for everyone's donations and encouragement so far!
I joined this fundraiser with the personal experience of taking in rescues, falling in love, growing with them, and grieving them when they cross the rainbow bridge.
This organisation means so much to me, and came at a time where I desperately needed some direction and reason to get up in the morning.
It means more to me than I have the words to express to receive so many people's support.
Today I surpass 50km towards my goal and as I am writing this, have surpassed 50% of my fund-raising goal too.
Thank again, with love
Tay
