A COUPLE OF RESCUE BESTIES

Hello, thanks for dropping in.

This is my first fundraiser for Pet Rescue and I am doing it in memory of Sally. Her photo is at the top of this page.

When Sally was 6 months old she was advertised at work as urgently needing a new home. For us it has been a wonderful example of how being in the right place at the right time can have an enormous impact on your life. 

Sally died earlier this year after sharing 15 years of fun, affection, shedding, and adventures with us. Her favourite things included water, mud and the sort of stinky stuff that only dogs really appreciate. 

Although she is never far from my thoughts, my walking companions throughout this month will be Barry and Arlo They are pictured above having smoko after I had been working in the garden.

Barry was advertised by Pet Rescue 6 years ago. We met him with his foster carer in a Goulburn dog park and decided fairly quickly he was a good fit for all of us. 

Barry is a Kelpie X. Probably some Labrador in there if his incredible eating speed is anything to go by. He is endlessly optimistic and enthusiastic when it comes to interpreting human behaviour to mean "let's go for a walk to the dam and throw balls ". He loves to get into the ute and sit firmly where he has the best view of the road. Ball mad but also very patient with dogs who reach the ball before him. Sticks are acceptable if a ball becomes unavailable. Like when it sinks in the dam after too much chewing...

Arlo is the sweetest and most handsome gentleman Labrador you will ever meet. His favourite things are sleeping, wallowing in shallow water or puddles, meeting people and leaning in to show how affectionate he is. Treats are very popular too. We met Arlo 4 years ago and he became a much welcomed visitor.  Fortunately for us, his humans were soon to make a big decision to move away. As Arlo was clearly happy spending time with us it was agreed that he could have two families with our home as his permanent residence.
