Best Friends Walk 2026

I'm taking part in PetRescue’s Best Friends' Walk to help homeless pets find their best friend.

When it launched in 2004, the PetRescue website was the first of its kind in Australia, and since then, it has been the connection for over 930,000 rescue pets and their new families.

PetRescue’s adoption platform gives pets the best chance to find a home by bringing thousands of homeless pets face-to-face with tens of thousands of potential adopters every day. And the best part is, all PetRescue website services and adoption support programs are free and accessible to all rescue members and pet lovers alike.

Please suppawt us as we walk to recognise the bond we share with our furry family members and help find a home for every pet that needs one!

My Updates

Pobblebonks! Our wildlife walks...

On tonight's walk, we found a big Pobblebonk  (Eastern Banjo Frog) which we have been hearing every night, just sitting in the middle of the road. Tunie was intensely interested in it, it was very cute watching her try to figure out what it was. I let her get close enough for a quick sniff but she wasn't allowed to touch it. She circled it a few times trying to make up her mind about it. I REALLY wished I had my phone with me to get a photo of her with it - so cute!!!! This image was downloaded from the Museum website. A few nights ago we saw 3 flying foxes in a tree down our street - they havent been recorded here before so we were VERY surprised

Nocturna - Night Walks

We saw some really cool things on our night walk. One of the wonderful things about walking a cat is that they often stop to look at things closely - and we found something that moved even slower than us last night.....

Sunshine at last

Yesterday we finally had some sunshine and enjoyed a leisurely stroll close to home, with lots of sunbathing of course. The Best Friends bandanna was a bit bulky and constantly risking falling off so we have returned to Tunie's signature look - the powder blue harness to match her eyes

The Post Office

Yesterday we went for a walk down the street to meet and greet people and talk about cat harness training and raising money for PetRescue. Tunie decided she liked being in the post office and got very nosey about the closed doors!

Possum Magic!

Last night's walk was very exciting - we saw a Brushtail possum up on the powerlines and Tunie wanted to climb the powerpole to say hello.

Day 1...well, Night 1!

1 September: Tonight was our first Best Friends walk. Tunie chose to walk at 7.30pm, and chose where we walked and for how long. Our walk was 31 minutes long...with LOTS of sitting and staring involved lol. We didn't see any rabbits last night, which is unusual. We walked a total of 252m and Tunie was nosey around our neighbours places as usual lol.
